To do it officially you will need to visit a dealer to get an update. Over the Air updates were only introduced with the facelift in 2015

Ok thanks for that!

If you did yourself is it difficult to do?

Only legitimate source of the update is Audi and it requires a connection to the factory to activate it. There are alternatives offered on the internet but you run the risk of buying something that does not work and at worst could even damage your mmi system

Ok thanks again - had a quote from the dealer and they said it's £400 which I thought is excessive

People have had it done cheaper via the dealers

Lowest I have been quoted is £255.......

I'm loathe to try the cheaper alternatives as from what I have read it changes the VIN number on the MMI :/

It's shocking really - I did read on the Audi website that you are allowed 6 free updates

That is for the new system......

I was quoted around €400 to update mine. No chance!

Unbelievable really that they can do that I suppose can't really use that as an excuse to buy a new one!!!

My dealer told me to skip it as well.....on my new car, he informed me that I needed one of the options (Audi Connect & Phone Box - I think) in order to get free updates that can be done at home.

i was quoted £240 for 2016 update in december but the new update comes out every march i think so even if someone is willing to pay that amount why pay for old maps.
