B6 door external trim

I want to replace a door on my B6 Sport estate and I have found one at a breakers. It must be from a different model because it has a black plastic trim along the bottom of the door but mine has a chrome one which will need swapping. Can someone tell me if this is straight forward, are these stuck onto the door or are there holes in the door and clips on the strip which may not line up?

Both - the chrome strips are difficult to remove intact as they are glued in addition to the locating tangs. It's not impossible and a moderate heat gun applied along the strip usually softens the adhesive - not too hot mind you or the paint will melt too.

It's a case of slowly, slowly, catchy monkey!

You might prefer a hair dryer set on hottest, then use dental floss to separate the warm glue

That's an idea, I suppose that you are minimising the chance of bending the moulding too. Thanks
