Hi,

have my car (A6 3.0TDI 2012) for more 2 than years now and an annoying symptom started a few weeks ago.
The steering was very smooth but right now sometimes it just jumps a bit when I want to do a small move -
pretty much feels like a little Audi Lane Assist correction (even though it's not switched on). I was wondering that
maybe something happened with the gears inside the mechanics? Like one tooth broke out or something...

Anyone else experienced something like this? We just passed 85k miles.

Cheers,
J

Could be something simple like a seized or worn track rod end. All the salt they chuck on the roads won't help if a rubber is perished allowing ingress into a joint.

With the car parked get an assistant doing full lock to lock turns of the wheel and you get your head down next to the wheels listening for creaking sounds which would indicate stiff joints as mentioned above.

Hi Not sure if you have the same rack as a FL. I have a late 2015 FL and a few months ago it was in for a MMI problem to be resolved and at the same time had a recall done on the rack. It was in connection with a seal that may have been letting moisture into the rack. Mine was OK but might be worth checking if yours is due a recall. 2015 S-line ultra FL
