A cautionary tale.... Hi, I posted earlier about wiper problems, it got worse........Wipers were very slow and stuttering, research indicated transmission between motor and arms probably seizing so I got a complete salvage assembly including the motor and got that fitted. All OK for about a week, then couldn't turn the wipers off and slow again. Changed the relay, no difference.
I had to pull the fuse to stay mobile over the christmas 'shutdown' but as soon as 'my' garage were open I wound it back into them for a diagnostic expecting them to say I'd got a dodgy motor or it was a switch/stalk problem. After a good few hours they came back and told me the control module was only pushing 8 volts to the motor indicating there was a fault there. Good, I thought, until he told me that the part was peculiar to the car and not only was it nearly £300 but an Audi dealer would charge £100 plus to programme it to the car. Having just spent £500 on the wiper issue plus other items i was none too pleased.
Apparently this module serves other things as well, but as everything else worked well I asked if they could perhaps fit a remote switch to get the wipers going (the car is 14 years old) and I'd live with that. One hour later the car was ready. The guy had somehow isolated the defective wiring, retaining the wash/wipe mode,Wipers work only on 'fast' position, but at normal speed because of the reduced voltage. All works as normal through the stalk.
Because of the 'previous', Hammertons/K2 garages Botley,Southampton, charged me for only one hours labour, so in the circumstances I'm very happy to give them a 'plug' for the benefit of anyone local.
