View Full Version : Closing the Boot/Trunk with the Key - without Advanced Key

OK so my Q7 does not have the Advanced Key, but I had the Memory Seats Retro fitted at Hazzy Dayz. These guys are absolute wizards at coding.

I asked them about making the boot close with the key and they said they thought it needed a different module as the option to code in the boot closure with the key wasn't available on my module but they would have a play about and see what they can do.

I don't know exactly what they did but they got it working just with coding.

I know they have turned on Advanced Key (Although it doesn't work) within my coding and also the boot gesture control (no idea if all of these are needed) but I thought I would let you all know that it is possible with coding.

The down side is if I go into OBD11 I get an error in that module saying it cannot find the advanced key or gesture control. But that is the only error.

It's actually not as great as you might imagine as there is a lot of criteria required to get it to work. IE the engine cannot be running, all the doors need to be unlocked (not just the boot) etc.

so you can close the boot from the keyfob by pressing the boot open button? And this was achieved with just coding? If so, what was the cost? (apologies for the direct question)

What is an advanced key? Is this the £1,000 option that unlocks the vehicle when you approach without having to press a button?

Yes I can now close from the keyfob. It bleeps while it is closing for some reason.

I can't really say how much as they were doing a £2,000 memory seat install and just did it while they were playing with the coding.

I know they fit the advanced key with boot closing for about £1,500. Yes advanced key is when it opens if the key is in your pocket.

Mica, did you get the coding Hazzy Days did for remote boot closure without Advanced Key and the beeping when it closes from them? Be good to add to our coding thread (if they are prepared to share otherwise we need to go hunting)

Cheers

Yes in the coding they activated Advanced Key (even though I don't have it) then activated the foot guesture. I don't know what these codes are as OBD11 gives me an error now when I try to access that module.

The boot closure works fine but when I do a scan with VCP I get a foot guesture control error.

Does this help?

If anyone knows how to get OBD11 to talk to all the modules again that would be great.

Thanks Mica,

It does.. but are you saying they installed the foot gesture aerial? This is a wire loop that is under the rear bumper that detects the foot "kick". It comes with Advanced Key which you dont have, so either they installed the foot gesture aerial, or if not, that explains your errors because it isnt there.

Also, Advanced Key needs aerials installed around the car (in the doors for example) so did they install those or are you saying they just "enabled" advanced key in the coding, but the hardware is missing?

Cheers!

Andy

No hardware was installed, just coding, I assume this is why I get the errors. I also think this could be why my OBD11 won't talk to the module. This is a tad worrying.

Advanced Key is not a separate "brain", its part of the Module 46 (Central Convenience) however there are aerials dotted around the car and in the boot area that all connect back to Module 46. If those are missing and Advanced Key has been "coded" to a degree then its going to be looking for these devices and not finding them

Your fault codes may even say something like "Missing Function Message" or similar which basically means Module 46 isnt getting a response from these other devices its expecting to find.

It wont do any damage, but you'll never clear the errors until the hardware exists or the coding for Adv Key is removed.

HTH

Thanks

Yes its module 46 I cannot get into. How can I fix this? Could he have locked it somehow?

You can't lock yourself out permanently to a module, temporarily yes, like 30 minutes or an hour, but not days, weeks, months

One way to reset it is to take the negative terminal off the battery which is under the drivers footwell for 5/10 mins then reconnect it.

Errmmmm, what's going on??????

I don't seem to have received a PM to advise/ask permission etc to discuss Advanced Key.

This place is going to dogs.......

Hi Mica
I've had the issue of not being able to access the modules now and again.
What I found works is you need to clear app data in android application manager.
Just write down your login/pin numbers as it will virginize the app.
The moment you log in with your user data all settings/history/cars will come back as these are held in the cloud I believe.... that a why the app needs a good internet connection to work effectively.

I had the same issue and logged a call with them and they sent me this video to do exactly as you say Clear app data - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruWBc-Q5eso)
