View Full Version : Slight 'judder' in reverse with light acceleration and once in Drive.

On my Audi A4 B6 2.4 6V Automatic.
On a couple of occasions in last week I have noticed a judder when in Reverse and slight pressure on the accelerator.
Once on a hill, once on the flat.
Both occasions when car is cold.
Never when in Reverse and car moving under own power (no pedals).
Connected to this I also had one instance of this judder, on a separate occasion, when moving off in Drive with light acceleration.
Aside from this the car is driving beautifully.
Car has done 136k miles so I would have thought the issues about the cvt gearbox I have read about would have happened long ago on this car.
I'm sure this means something but before I take it in...and suggestions?
Thanks.

I'm not certain how to tell but it's Auto (D N R P) with option of multi / tiptronic (not sure which is which) control (1 to 6) via steering wheel and pushing auto lever from Drive position to left. Sorry I should be better informed! Does that help?

CVT, sounds like you have a clutch pack or drive belt problem. Firstly have a fluid change (make sure the lines and filter are back flushed) and see how it performs. If it needs a new clutch pack it will be difficult to justify the minimum parts cost of at least £2.5k unless you can find someone brave enough to rebuild the unit but even then that is £500 in parts just to rebuild the clutch pack. This time last year I paid scrap value for a 2009 A6 Sline with a failed CVT box, a beautiful car and when it was fixed we barely broke even selling it for its £7K market value.

I've just been reading about them playing up and repair costs. I'll give Audi a ring and see if they have a record of it being done under their repair programme. Certainly cost would be more than value of car, it was bought quite recently but no signs of this issue on test drives. Will look at changing fluids though also...a good thing of course...if it keeps running!

On the few occasions it has happened it has been first thing when starting off from cold...wonder if that means anything...
