Hey, Has any one put 225/50/17 wheels on the C7? I have winter tires from an old Audi on rims and want to use them on my current car but the recommended size is 225/55/17. I know its only ~3% difference in size but was interested if anyone else has done the same and noticed any problems?

Cheers

For insurance purposes and to keep within the sizes given on the tyre pressure sticker, I'd be more inclined to stick to the sizes the manufacturer gives.

Are you sure the 17s will clear the brakes?
The calliper is huge even on the 2.0

Hi yes they do clear the breaks. It's not the rim size that is the main query but the profile size difference from 50 to 55

they are slightly smaller diameter and i doubt you will notice,. your gearing will be marginally lower so it may feel quicker when you plant your right foot, and the speedo will over read slightly more than it does now.. yes it might not be a recommended size, yes you should tell your insurance but yes they will be fine to drive with. in fact, its only the difference between a new tyre and the same tyre with no tread left.

Just contacted my insurance company (quotemehappy) with regards to winter tyres and wheels and they are happy as long as the tyres are the same size as original and that I am not changing steel wheels for alloys.
