Hi,
I have a 2016 BE with the Bose system and like most, I was a bit disappointed with the bass. I already had a sub and other equipment from my last car ( Focus Zetec S 182 - My Car, pics and 220BHP - Ford Focus Forum, Ford Focus ST Forum, Ford Focus RS Forum (http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/ford-focus-builds-general-showroom/326675-focus-zetec-s-182-my-car-pics-220bhp.html)), so started looking into how and where to install a sub.
However, all the pictures on the web showed a different amp mount to the one in my car.
In the end, I decided to use some perspex (white was all they had and i'm impatient!) and came up with a mount as shown in the pics below:-
Original bracket with the amp removed. Note the 3 slots in the middle - this is where the TV tuner bracket slots into. There were 3 empty holes that I used to secure the perspex sheet to.

I then mounted a new amp I picked up. It matched the sub, and its size meant it was a good fit for the bracket:-

Mounted my LC2i above:-

http://mail.naqui.co.uk/img/20161210_124922.jpg
After bit of cable routing etc, the amp and LC2i were all connected up:-

I tapped into the subwoofer signal using micro spade connectors as I didnt want to splice into the loom just yet:-

Adjusting the LC2i and amp:-
http://mail.naqui.co.uk/img/20161210_143910.jpg
Bose amp back on:-
http://mail.naqui.co.uk/img/20161210_143856.jpg
And mounted back in place:-

I tapped into the un-used fuse for the TV tuner for my remote turn on. I tried using GTO on the LC2i but found it unreliable.
However, I am finding that the amp cuts out and back in when the Stop\Start is starting the engine back up. Has anyone else had this?
I need to adjust the settings a bit more, but overall a vast improvement over the Bose sub!

Top job buddy!
I have just gone through a similar process and used the sub high level output through one of these-

What is your LC2i? Is it doing the same job (but with more features)?
I used a spare ignition switched fuse position on the other side of the boot and I do occasionally have the cutout issue you described.

What JL amp and sub did you get?

Tidy job that pal... Nice one!

Cheers!
the LC2i has a few extra features such as overcoming factory bass cut off, and two channel RCA output. Bass cut off doesnt seem to be an issue with the Audi system - but I had the LC2i from my Focus which did have bass cut off issues.
My other option would have been to use the high level input on the amp, but the LC2i gets rave reviews.
Glad to know i'm not the only one getting the amp cutting out on stop\start. I might have a play with where I am connecting to the battery from.

When I'm testing or enjoying and traffic is likely I just turn off the stop/start ;)
Not likely to win any SPL comps, but with a flat tune of port to about 35hz it clean and up to around 122dB on music.

Nice!
I'm using the following amp JL Audio JX500/1D -
32260 (http://www.jlaudio.co.uk/jx500-1d-car-audio-jx-amplifiers-99400)
and a JL Audio 12" basswedge
32261 (http://www.jlaudio.co.uk/cp112-w0v3-car-audio-basswedge-subwoofer-systems-93281)
It's very well built and delivers great bass.
I've got a couple of small changes to the car - once the we get a clear day, I'll put some pics up after a wash

Nice kit.
Are you loading the sub against the back of the seat or firing into the boot?
Makes quite a bit of extra dB loading against a near by surface, but I am still changing boxes to find the best compromise.
With my 60% seat down and same settings I went up from 122 to 124

I can see your car is saloon as mine. Do you get any parcel shelf vibration issues ?

Sure do, the trim is coming off over the break and 2 sheets of roadkill are going in.
(Along with the new 12ga speaker wire)

I do have a little rattling - but not enough that would make me take apart the shelf to install sound proofing.
More worrying has been the fact that the "switched" fuse for the amp remote doesn't turn off with the ignition.
This has already led to 1 flat battery!
I'm now looking to tap into the rear 12v socket.
If you are using a fuse feed - can you post which fuse number and which fuse bank?
Thanks!

On the right side there is a fuse block that is ignition switched, I added the pink fuse between the 7.5 and 5.
The blue wire is my amp switch

Superb and very professional jobs
But surely a little bit OTT for Mantovani? :biglaugh::1zhelp:

Thanks for that. I think used the same spare fuse.
To test, I left my amp exposed and gave it 15 minutes with the car locked. However I could still see power to the amp through the window.
Do you know if theres a longer delay before it switches off?
Thanks

The fuse holder was out as I was trying to move stuff around and fit my amp in there behind the pocket.
In the end it was just not working so the space behind the pocket remains vacant and the amp resides on a board in the spare wheel well. Spare just squeezes in.

Nothing wrong with Mantovani, but I prefer Rednex, Cotton Eye Joe at full blast on repeat:drive:
I often get glances

As soon as I hit the start/stop button to turn the engine (ignition) off I hear the amp cut off.
Are you sure you picked the right fuse block? Of the 2 rows of fuses in mine, one was on/off instantly with the ignition and the other was still live after ignition off, don't know how long for though.

What you might be hearing is the signal from the Audi system cutting off, rather than the amp. I've tested the fuses with a Voltmeter and I do not see the voltage dropping even when the ignition is off.
I believe even the 12v sockets have a relay in their circuits. The 12v socket fuse seems to be always live, but the voltage at the socket itself does drop to 0v when the ignition is turned off.

I used a multimeter too, the fuse rail I used defiantly switches off with ignition. My amp has a light on the front that only comes on when both main power and remote switch power is on, it turns off as soon as I hit the ignition start/stop button.

Deck is now sound deadened and 2 decent passages made for sound pass through.

Firstly Apologies for the tread revival.
I’ve been looking at ways to add a bit more oomph in the standard system(non nose) and this has given me a few things to think about.
I was looking in another forum and I want a more factory finish so looking at replacing the sub on the parcel shelf. Also I like having the huge bit space.
Subwoofer upgrade complete - and it rocks! - Page 2 - AudiWorld Forums (https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a6-c7-platform-discussion-194/subwoofer-upgrade-complete-rocks-2822634/page2/)
Does anyone know/have pics of how the parcel shelf comes apart? Don’t want to end up breaking clips and bits.
Also where are you picking up the signal for the amp? If you were to pick it from the high level outputs from the speakers, dont these use a crossover before the speaker so the low bass notes are filtered out so the amp won’t get the low frequencies it’s looking for?
The power and remote feed seems easy enough as the battery is in the boot already.
Anyone with even just an exploded diagram of the rear shelf?
