I picked my car up from a service on Friday and they told me that they had noticed the sunroof was sticking but didn't have time to grease it and that I should book it back in. As I had paid for a 'sunroof service' at a different dealer 12 months before, I said that I would take a look at it first. Got home, tried to open it, then it stuck open and that was it - the sunroof was higher on one side than the other and clearly not going to work. Booked back in on Monday and they've confirmed that one of the cables has snapped. Fortunately the warranty I have that runs out in 3 weeks will cover it as the estimate was £1,650. Headliner needs to be dropped, glass removed, frame out and then a new frame in and glass put into it.
Only problem now is that they are on back order at Audi so don't have a date yet. I'm expecting my new car to be delivered in a few weeks so hope there isn't a delay as I need to sell the A6!
