I must admit I never used to like tints but my wife got a Mazda 3 with quite heavy tints and they are growing on me. Especially in the summer when they do seem to keep it cooler.

Look good with a black car like yours.

It is also my first time I add tint to one of my rides. It is also the first dark ride I have. It's not black but Oolong grey. On the picture it looks like black but in the sun it looks different [emoji12]

like the tints, key reason I looked for a black edition, whats the ride like on the lowered set up? doesn't look very comfortable..

After a quick wash I thought I'd throw in a side shot of my windows.
It's the legal front (35%?), same on the rears and the back.
I wanted the same look all round.

Legally you need to let 70% of the light in at the front (sides) and most windows with slight standard tint are pretty much at that out of the factory.

I'm sure the 'tinters' said that limo black was 95% i.e. Let's only 5% in.
Mine was 25 or 35% and 'legal' according to him, but you are right, there is a tiny amount of tint from factory.

My wife's touran has a factory level of tint to the rear windows that is darker than all mine.

Tinters don’t have to pay the fine for you :biglaugh:

If you can peal it off you might get away with a warning, but a lot of forces are clamping down on it and you will be very lucky to get away with a provider if you can’t remove it at the roadside. Most traffic units carry meters.

Tinted vehicle windows: the law - GOV.UK (https://www.gov.uk/tinted-vehicle-window-rules)

Does look good though :fing02:

It actually looks a lot darker in the photo (honest officer) that it really is.

Tinter wanted to put the darker stuff on the rears, I let him talk me into it on my B8 Avant previously and I never liked the look of it from the outside, so this time I was insistent that it was the same (lighter) shade all round

If they put a meter on it then it should be fine, but if they are going by the film rating then a further 25%/35% reduction will take you under.

You could pick up a more expensive VLT meter, but it won’t double up for lights etc. You could also try an app, but I doubt it would stand up in court :biglaugh:
