I have put a new sim in my car and within 5 days I have supposedly used 500mb of data. There are three days which have each used 150mb and per EE it all relates to Google Earth downloads.

Has anyone else had this ?

Thanks

Are you allowing your mobile phone to connect to the car, so it's using the cars sim rather than its own

I've only used around 300mb in 4 months but rarely use Google maps.

No I don't have any phones connected via wifi. I have had Google Maps set since the day I picked it up (Tech Pack) and never used anything near this amount. It must be something to do with the new SIM card and how it is handling data because it just can't be using that much.

I don't think, that there could be a connection between your consumption problem, and the SIM card's data handling, as this service is all the same for all ISPs, as it's a standard. I use a 500MB card too, but the Google maps never ever used this ammount, even I travel for long journeys.

To get further with your problem, I think you could:

- check your internet connection settings, probably your phone connects to your car, and use the hot-spot, even you think, it does not.
- disable Google maps temporary [choose standard display], and check the consumption meter, what's happening after this,
- disable the travel information, hot-spot and so on to see, what's happening.

And let's see if there is any leakege in your system.

Last time I had google maps on for a few hours in 1 journey it used up around 100mb of data.
I tend to use the standard maps as I found these easier on the eye and less distracting especially in the dark. Data is mainly used for traffic now and that barely uses 50mb a month.
