How on earth do I get Apple CarPlay to work on my C7?

I've connected the phone via USB cable in the armrest and nothing seems to happen. I can't see any option to enable it on either the MMI menus or my iPhone.

Am I being dumb and missing something?

Did you order the Audi smartphone interface with the car? Also this was only made available this year(model year 17)

You should also have "Audi smartphone interface" in the setup menu.

Ah - I thought it was part of the Tech Pack as standard?

My car is MY17

No it was a £250 option. No retrofit available as yet.

Which is a bit rubbish, as it should only be software.

It is only software (a digital license file linked to the cars VIN number). From what I understand both Apple & Google have device fees, and Audi have development costs so this is just being passed onto the customer.

I'm more referring to the fact that they can't make it available rather than charge money for it. I have a my17 model, but my order was placed before this became an option.

This is Audi we are talking about, they would charge you for the air in the tyres if they could get away with it.

@B5NUT: Where did you find that a license file is required ?

I've been trying to enable the audi smartphone interface using VCDS, and have already been succesful in enabling the menus :D (see screenshots below),
but now i'm stuck because the connection manager stays empty.

it's what I've read from other forums, all the software is there but without the activation it will not work. It's the same as the Navigation that requires a valid license/activation that is linked to the VIN number on the car.
