Should I come back?

I got rid of my third Passat after it devolved issues due to careless main dealer cam belt change. I then bought a new Qashqai which I have to say I love. However, it's a lot of money tied up in a car, and I'm wondering about getting a used B7. It would be the first of the model around a 2011.

I had a few issues with my B6 like calliper motors and a few other things. How reliable are the early B7s? I've seen a few posts about clutch and gearbox going at a really low mileage.

Your going to loose money on the sale of the qashqai so,I would hang on to it

I shouldn't loose money. I'm half way through the finance deal and they selling for more than the settlement figure.

Any thoughts from other B7 owners? Reasonably reliable?

Egr's aren't reliable , think they have coolers too, expensive to replace .

I've had mine for almost two years now and 33K miles on it. It's been mostly reliable, only problem I've had is a frozen passenger door lock - I could open the door but not close it as the lock was frozen.

I have an occasional vibration at low revs sometimes so maybe the DMF is on the turn.

I "depress the clutch" each time I start by explaining that it's life is more than half over before starting.

I use a specialist rather than VW for servicing which has worked OK for me. The specialist noted a leak and said it was a warranty item, the local VW dealer did the work FoC so no complaints against them.
