Me again, kinda tails off from my random start thread but though I best start a new one.

ECU is giving a :

16989 - Internal Control Module
P0605 - 008 - ROM Error

So after speaking to 3 mechanics they have all said new ECU.

I tried to code one up tonight but the version I have is 8E0 909 559 M the one i bought is 8E0 909 559 (missing the M)

Bosch part number is 261 208 238 where as the one i got is 261 207 596

So thought it might work but i was getting all sorts of brake sensor issues with it, so guess its no good for the job.

Looking for advice on the whole is it an immobiliser II or III. I thought i'd try this one and see how hard it was, following the if its IMMO II to adapt ECU to 0000 and should work didn't work so im presuming its an IMMO III.

Also is there a way with VCDS to copy the coding across?

Any help or if you've done it before please get it touch! :)

Much appreciated.

No, VCDS cannot do this without the SKC code, dealer number and it is date sensitive but there is no way to get the SKC code now, even the dealer can't see it so the other way with VCDS is to find the four digit PIN code and to find this you need something like CAN Commander or like I am trying to get set up to do, use VAS PC and a VAS5054 to do "pass through" in Geko but you have to jump through rings of fire to get set up with that, I have been going through the motions for weeks including giving VAG UK a copy of my passport, driving licence and a letter from my accountant and I am still not there! 8E0 909 559 is for an earlier ASN enine.

I know a few garages with the proper VAG setup with the connection to Audi I presume they can do it without any pins etc?

They should be able to but probably not with the ECU you have.

Oh... why what makes you say that? What am I supposed to do then?

8E0 909 559 M is ASN 2004> production, 8E0 909 559 is August to December (approx) 2001 production but was superseded by 8E0 909 559 H which went to 05/2003 production so the immobiliser in the dash may not be compatible.

Sorry I should have said I've got the right one now both Bosch and VAG part numbers match but still don't have the pin. Spoke to local independent who said they would code the The mobiliser for £50 I asked if they needed the pins and he said that he just puts it on and it goes off on the internet and does it.

Yes that's a pass through, a couple of companies offer it but I am trying to get the VAG system GEKO.
