Hi guys need your help. I pulled into work today and when I came to park up and pulled the electric handbrake up and then it beeped start/stop error not functioning.
There is an ! on the dashboard, but will dissapear when i manually press the start/stop button to switch off, but comes back on when i switch it on.
I heavily rely on the start/stop so want to get it sorted asap. Any help will be apprecaited

It's an error - take it to an audi dealer if it is under warranty or an audi dealer / your favourite independent if not.
Just to be clear, you say you heavily rely on start / stop. Do you mean that or do you mean the auto handbrake thing - at intersections etc?
Start / Stop is just trying to save a little fuel and most people either tolerate it or turn it off, you'd be the first person to rely on it heavily in my experience.
I can see why the start/stop error would have popped up when you put the handbrake on in neutral...because it was trying to stop the engine.
But that does not mean that the auto handbrake is malfunctioning.

I don't heavily rely on it, its just that I have it on all the time. I never have the handbrake on in neutral, I know not to do that lol.

So you don't heavily rely on it... take to to a dealer when you have time, it does not seem urgent.
And I have no idea what gearbox (or engine or age of car or anything) you have. If it's manual then you would engage the handbrake in neutral, if it's an auto you'd do it in park (or it would auto engage).

Just out of curiosity, what's wrong with having your handbrake on in neutral?

Surely while stationary that would be fine, but moving.... a no no...?
