Couldn't resist a few videos to keep me entertained while I wait to pick up the Q7. I was genuinely impressed by the off-road performance towards the end of this, especially on summer tyres AUDI Q7 3,0 TDI TEST - NEW ENG SUBTITLES !!! - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DK2cJB8oExE).

Would be interesting to see how the competition would handle this (X5, XC90, GLS etc).

Anyone enjoyed any off-road action yet?

Oh come on, that's not off roading! I took on trickier ground than that with my 20 year old polo coupe.

The cars you've listed, whilst nice (I would happily take an XC90 or its cousin the XC60) and will tackle the odd muddy hill/tow a twin axle caravan easily aren't really off roaders.

When I think of offroaders, I think of Discovery, Range Rover, Patrol, Landcruiser etc. Proper mens toys, walloping pieces of metal that take anything you throw at them.

Possibly HiLux after the way TG showed them off :naughty:

I think you missed my point! I don't consider any of the cars I mentioned to be off-roaders. That is exactly why I would be interested to see how far they could be pushed off-road on summer tyres. I actually consider the terrain on the video to be quite a test for a road car.

My apologies, I saw green lane in the thread title and offroading in the YT video and thought we were discussing off roaders.

I never understand why people buy road cars and want to push them off road.

Surely if you wanted an off roader, you'd buy an off roader?

Range Rover already has this segment licked imho.

carmarthen pay and play - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsYlf-ujpyg)..

i cannot see the point in something all flashy and luverly that you cannot use off road

incidentally, the chap driving the silver disco is missing an arm and a leg, goes to show that off roading is open to everyone..

The green lane action bit was tongue in cheek :D- I can't really imagine anyone taking a Q7 down a green lane. Having said that, Baron Von Grumble did a half decent job on his GSXR..... GSXR Off Roading - Baron von Nightmare - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqgEl53x7CM)

I currently cannot get my M5 off the drive if there is more than 1mm of snow, so as long as the Q7 can handle that, it's more than enough for me - I have a KTM EXC 450 for when I really want to go off-road.

At Silverstone next weekend. Hope I don't get sent down the exit that takes you through the woods. Last time my X5 had scratches down each side that had to be polished out!

Eeeek...remember that pic of my car post Cornwall trip...had my holding my breathe when I first saw the effect the country lanes left until I touched the lines to find out it was just dirt

I do, it's exactly like my X5 looked except the didn't wash off [emoji24]

I'll refuse that exit this time. Still miffed I had to pay for 2 car parking tickets as I've got 2 adults and 4 kids!
