I am new to the Q7 range and have gone for the 4.2 TDI sline 2007 with 91k miles.

I have a few questions, wondered if anyone could help me.

1. I have ordered up some DRL LED lights for 130 GBP, the seller says its straight swap plug and play. Can't seem to find anyone else who went for these cheaper ebay jobs, apart from one chap that said it is plug and play and do work well. Would love to hear from someone that fitted them themselves and could give some advice?.

2. The electric folding mirrors i have are odd, they only seem to fold in if i manually do it from the driver side mirror knob. I have looked in the MMI but there doesn't seem to be a setting for the wing mirrors to auto close upon closing the door. I do have VCDS, so i presume, with a little editing that i could potentially get these to fold when locking the car?. If i can, please advise how?.

3. When i bought the car last week, i didn't really notice any abnormal engine noises. But a week on i am getting a little nerves, as the last car i owned (116d bmw) the timing chain snapped 1 month after owning it, and i also heard a little ticking noise from the back of the engine. Well im kinda getting a similar noise from the Q7, although i am not sure if this is normal or abnormal for this particular engine. I could do a video and stick it on youtube if someone with the same car/engine or a mechanic would like to take a look for me to compare?. Also is there any recalls or lifetime information about the chains on these?. The Q7 has full service history with audi apart from the last service.

4. When i updated my maps to 2016, i lost the TMC function, it has a line though it and just won't come back to life again. What causes this? it was working perfectly before.

5. I want the exhaust sounding a bit beefier. What would be the best way to achieve this?. A new backbox? the silencer removed? would DPF removal help?

6. I heard you can lower the Q7 slightly by simply editing some values in VCDS so that every setting on the MMI would make each setting 10mm or so lower than usual. Can this really be done without buying drop links of some sort?. If so any tutorials about? and would i need to get the wheels aligned afterwards?.

While we're on the subject of VCDS, is there any other nifty mods i could do? i have already used VCDS to unlock the locked navigation drive so i could update the maps from 2006 to 2016.

Thanks for any advice and help :)

1. I did not go for the newer DRL, just put 6000k LED in the standard DRL.
2. I think you can get the newer module for the mirrors, aimt looked into that yet as I have never needed to fold my mirrors.
3. My engine has a slight tick from the rear. VW Audi specialist near me has checked it and no concerns, just a big engine!
4. My 2016 "backup" nav disc done the same, so used 2015 one.
5. Not sure
6. Tried the vcds to lower the car but it would not accept the values, paid £80 for the links. Took about 20 min to initially fit and a further 40 min to find the right height that suited me. Shredded the rear tyres which were due changing. £30 for 4 wheel alignment which was surprisingly cheap!!!
