This is a problem on my A4 B6 Avant, its a 2002 model 1,9 tdi 130bhp, the problem was that I was always having to bleed the clutch about every 6 months because the clutch bite was just off the floor, when it was bled it was ok, I broke the bleed screw so I fitted a new clutch slave cylinder, and now it will not bleed, ive tried, a pressure bleeder, reverse priming, sucking, blowing and there is nothing, there is nothing when you pump the pedal and it stays on the floor, no one seems to know the answer to this problem, any urgent help on this please, the clutch was working ok before I changed the slave

no its ok just no fluid coming out of the pipe or bleed nipple, I would have thought that fluid should still be coming out of the pipe even if the new slave is faulty when the pedal is pumped

that's something I didn't think about, I will check that, but even with the easybleed attached there is no fluid coming out even if the bleed screw or pipe is removed, is there some sort of one way valve fitted to the clutch line side?

of course no fluid will come out if the cylinder is stuck down because the port into the cylinder is closed. if it was open then fluid would squirt into the resevoir everytime you push the clutch down and not do anything to the slave cylinder. funnily enough i had a bmw the other week done exactly the same thing. its probably been your air problem all along as well. air cant get into a slave as its always under pressure but air can get into a master.

probs easier to remove the master and take a look that way. you may be able to see it in situ, or if you press the pedal down by hand you may feel when it contacst the master and gets a bit heavier.

ive almost got the clutch master out but how do you disconnect the metal rod from the pedal??? cant see anything, it looks like the clutch pedal needs to be removed

After researching for a week with no luck I finally found the cause of the problem, The previous owner had put hydraulic fluid in the brake reservoir mixing it with dot 4, this caused the seals to swell and block the valve and cylinder piston.
