View Full Version : Question MyAudi PIN Number storage ?

I have searched to no avail so here is my question. I have had to resort to the white-heat of technology that is a Post-it Note to ensure that I have my MyAudi PIN ready to input every time I use the online satnav.
Surely there must be a setting so that this is unnecessary?
I appreciate that it is a security measure but it's not as though it gives access to my Swiss bank accounts! :D

I too have a post-it note.
Most of the time the system remembers the code (trying to get to any Connect services, not just navigation) but every so often it forgets it, and it gets quite annoying.

I can't quite pinpoint what is causing it to forget, unless it is trying to log in before the car is fully online?

Well I don't use the car every day so I suppose it has time to forget!
Also we have no mobile phone signal at home so it cannot connect until I get out of the village.
But you'd think the PIN could be cross-referenced to the key coding perhaps?

I keep my Audi PIN number in the notes app of my iPhone. Annoying that the system forgets it I agree.

Yes but that works only if you have the phone with you and you can access the phone & open Notes - not so easy when driving for us old gits! Hence Post-it Notes stuck to MMI sceeen!!

That's how it should be for sure! Shame it isn't for some of us!

Yeah I would never access the code on mobile whilst underway... But always got the mobile with me etc.

Well! Started her up yesterday morning, feeling smug as I had the good old Post-it sitting there ready to enter the (absurdly long & non-memorable) MyAudi PIN and guess what -- the car had remembered it (or perhaps it read the note?)
Spooky or what? :aargh4:

My pre-facelift never forgot the code in four years. When my facelift arrived, I found I needed to enter the code every time I used Audi Connect or tried to call up an online destination... for the first couple of weeks. Since then (touch wood!) I haven't been prompted for the pin at all.

I hope mine has also seen the error of its ways - but I'm not removing the Post-it Note any time soon!

Exactly this. MY FL needed the code to be entered on every ignition cycle for about two weeks and then seemed to say "Ah, it's the same code every time. OK, I've got the hang of this now.". Never entered the code since (more than a year now). Post-it note is still tucked into the sun-visor clip just in case, though...

Just to add I realised I have the same problem at the moment and have to enter the code every time. Has anyone contacted Audi about this?

It appears hit and miss. In 10 months it's only asked for it once in my 272. My old fl ultra asked for it like once a week.
There must be a setting or something to do with lost internet connection.

I have sent Audi UK a mail about this login problem and they have phoned me twice now. They agree this should only require one login and is now looking to arranhe something with my local service centre. I'll update if I have any success.

Update on mine. I dropped in at my local dealer today to buy some Adblue. The parts department told me it worked out cheaper to have the top-up done by the service department, so I agreed and waited with free coffee while they filled it for me. When I got the car back and tried to find an online destination from MyAudi... it wasn't logged in. I suspect the dealer connected up the car to their computer while they had it - and this logged me out of my MyAudi profile? It will be interesting to see if it remains logged in now...

Mine's been fine for a week or so then asked for it again day before yesterday - seems absolutely random! Post-it note still rules!
