Hi folks,

I have recently bought a middle-of-the-road daily hack for me to pile on the motorway miles with.
Nice A4 (B6) 1.9 tdi (130 bhp) on an 04 plate
Boring silver colour (ah well) .. but tidy black leather interior which looks pretty darn good and most of the mechanical bits seem to work well

As a secondhand car now 12 years old - there are a few foibles with it .. the most frustrating is that of the air-con not working.

I have read many posts on this forum about it .. and with my "econ" light on and this is the only mode it now operates in ..
it seems like my air con pump has had it.

I had this confirmed by a local garage who investigated (tried re-gassing first of all), but they say pump is dead.

I took a photo of the compressor when the garage took it off to examine it (which enabled me to check part codes) and mine is a -
Audi part = 8E0 260 805BA;
(not sure what this number refers to) - 6SEU14C
Denso part = 447180-6583

I am trying to source a refurbished item if possible (the car is not worth alot of money .. so a brand new one at £300+ is not my preferred solution) ...

Do you know of any companies around cheshire / chester .. who can either a) refurbish & repair them ... or b) have a stock of used one I can purchase from?

I am aware this is a weak point on these cars so hopefully with a network of people already having fallen-into-this-trap .. there may be some solutions to it.

Any help / guidance you can offer .. would be most welcome
Thanks All,

Ian

How do they know the pump is knackered if the econ light is on it will never kick in,anyway try central vw audi ellesmere port,not sure if they do aircon but I would certainly recommend them,they might point you in the right direction,with a car of that age I would be thinking of a salvaged unit,also you need a scan on the klima it could be something else.
