Ok, so I find myself the proud owner of an old mk4 Golf GT TDI 110 which has one or two little issues. The one I can't quite fathom is this; sometimes when pulling away from a standstill in first there is a noticeable lack of drive for a second or two then drive engages with a hard jolt. Everywhere else it's fine with no apparent clutch slip. It feels like it's making more than stock, certainly more than my old PD130, (though it's been a few years separated with an SDI Polo so I guess anything feels quick to me now), and I'm just a bit worried about the dual mass flywheel. Any ideas?

Is it more noticeable in stop and start traffic? How does it go on highways? Kms?

Due to the overwhelming response I'd kinda forgotten I'd posted this!
The situation has resolved itself. It was only apparent pulling away from a standstill. Sometimes.
Anyhow, turns out the springs were failing in the clutch and did, in fact, fail completely on a hill not that all that long ago leaving the car locked in gear, stalled, and unable to move, as it ended up resting on the transmission so I couldn't even get it into neutral on my own...
A tow from the AA and a new clutch/DMF kit from DarkSide has cured what ailed me.
