My nice shiny A6 now has a damaged alloy wheel owing to my driving skills. Basically aroung 6 inches of the wheel rim has been damaged (heavily scraped rather than actually chipped) where i hit a kerb.

i've never had to have an alloy wheel repaired before, but what are people's opinion on getting them repaired? It will bug me if i dont get it repaired, but i'm worried about getting a dodgy job done.

Can anyone recommend a decent alloy wheel repairer near Stoke? Does a good repair job involve replacing the lacquer as well and should it then be as good as new?

JP alloys in Cannock have a good reputation and aren't too far from you. They have diamond cutting on site off you need it for your type of wheels

Again, not really helpful but I can recommend these chaps if you're ever in Manchester

Manchester Alloy Wheel Repair | The Wheel Specialist (https://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk/locations/manchester/)

they've got other locations that may be closer to you but I can't fault the Manchester branch at all - SWMBO's Jazz had all 4 wheels refurbed a few months ago and they're spot on.

Anybody who knows me knows I don't recommend garages often nor lightly :D

Hi,

I have used Top Marques (Duke Street, Fenton) in the past and was impressed. They did a full strip, repair and re-paint, so it was a proper job. I have used other repairers locally (the last one opposite the Monkey Forest in Trentham) who just spot-repair the damage with the tyre still on the wheel, and while it looks ok at first, it doesn't stand the test of time and looks scrappy after a couple of months.

Are your wheels painted or are the rims diamond-cut? If the latter, the wheel will need to be re-finished on a cutting machine before they lacquer it. Not sure this is something Top Marques can do - worth asking though?

Good luck!!

MF.
