Engine judder

Hi all. I've recently bought a a4 quattro. 2.0tfsi. The other day after a long run, I was trying to overtake another vehicle when putting my foot down the revs kind of held back for a few seconds then surged forward which was also accompanied with the engine juddering or stuttering? It seemed to only happen in the higher gears and didn't seem an issue when driving steadily. The following day I took the car out for a spin to see if it would do it again which it didn't. I have read quite a few different posts on here and various forums where people have had similar problems. But not found a definitive answer to the cause. Is this a common problem? Anyone any ideas?
