Hope this is the right sub-forum....If not could someone advise? Thanks.
I have Audi A4 2005 with RNS-E. I would like to remove CD Changer and use the slot in the glovebox to house an aftermarket car radio which has DAB and an Aux-in socket. It also has Line-out for the audio, which is helpful. I would need to add a fused 12V supply and DAB aerial, of course. The mechanics of that seem OK, I think, based on Mr Fix advice at:
Audi RNS-E audio aux activation and wiring - mr-fix.info (http://mr-fix.info/audi-rns-e-audio-aux-activation-wiring/)
But I also need to change coding on the RNS-E. How do I do that? Do I need to go to a dealer or good independent, and how much would they charge for it? Or could I buy a 3rd party USB interface from eBay (about £10) and download VCDS-Lite from Ross-Tech? Would that work, using it as unregistered Shareware?
And if I managed to do all that, should the set-up work? That is, if I want to listen to DAB (or Aux-in), I would set the RNS-E to Aux, and switch on my DAB radio in the glovebox. I would still use the RNS-E for volume/balance etc. Anyone see any problems with that, or can offer advice? Many thanks.
