Sloppy gearstick problem, any ideas?

High all, my first post on here, hoping someone can help. Does anybody know if there is a repair kit available for my Audi A4 B5 gearstick mechanism or whether a Passat or other VW gearstick (which looks similiar) would fit? Changing gear is very hit and miss, sometimes its fine and other times there is resistance and difficulty shifting between gears, particularly 1st-2nd and 3rd-4th. Any advice or suggestions welcomed.

I would suggest sticking with b5 parts
You probably have worn or mal-adjusted linkage/machanism or just a simple return spring broken.
I believe your stick goes directly into the box and may have some kind of nylon ball and socket device or similar, which could be worn or partially damaged due to age/milage

depending on the box, there is a rod or rods from the stick then into the box. you need it in the air to see whats not working..
