Hola,

Just bought a 1999 golf and ive found a few issues which are, None of my interior lights (puddle lights, dome lights, or hatch light) work, all locks work when the doors are closed but when i get out and go to lock my drivers door, i can only lock it with a key. if i try with the lock button on the door (didn't come with fobs, only valet key) all doors lock but drivers door goes down half way then comes back up. when i turn my interior lights to the on position, the "open hatch" light comes on even though its closed but no lights come on. my door open light doesn't work for any doors and the buzzer that alerts you if your lights are still on when the door is open doesn't work.

I've done a lot of reading and most things point to drivers door lock module, or CCM but i haven't been able to find anyone with my exact issues. I've checked all of my fuses that relate to these issues, and they're fine. later today im planning on opening my door and taking a look at the lock module and seeing if its mucky or if there's any messed up soldering. if so ill clean and repair or replace from my local Pick 'n' Pull

But with all this information do you guys believe its the DLM too? Or does this info point to anything else? Thanks for any help, it's greatly appreciated

UPDATE: Just went for a nice drive and noticed my Hatch light on. I made sure all the light switches were off and the doors were all closed, didnt turn off. "Screw it!" i continue driving, and all of my interior lights turn on, but my light switches are set to turn on when the doors are open. so now all lights work except puddles and hatch light, but they stay on so i have to turn them all to the off position. What is happening? anyone know?

I would guess faulty micro switches in the door lock , I had to replace the drivers door lock as it didnt turn any lights on when being opened and didnt buzz if you left the car headlights on and it would auto lock if you didnt put the key in the ignition either as it didnt think anyone had got in the car , easy job and sorted all my problems apart from the boot light , that is a known common fault on the boot lock

That's what I was thinking too. I'll check the soldering as well as for any muck or corrosion. Side note, Since I'm very new to VW, for the 99's do they have the feature where you can roll all the windows down or up with the key? Thanks for your response.

So wasn't able to get around to cleaning it, but the lights stopped working again.

Remove door lock and replace the outer micro switch. Part is pretty darn cheap - RS components part number 823-5217.
Follow this guide (in German but easy to follow with photos): http://www.motor-talk.de/forum/aktion/Attachment.html?attachmentId=741213
You'll also need a bit of shrink hose and epoxy glue, hot glue is handy too.

99 models may be able to have windows via keys, it will depend on what ccm and dcms you have fitted.
Do you have a full autoscan of your car (that would include all parts numbers).

Awesome, I'll pull it apart when I have the time, haven't checked quite yet, but does that ship to Canada? I'm hoping this will fix my alarm randomly going off, my interior lights, and light buzzer, would I be correct in assuming so? Thanks for the reply =)

Not sure if they ship to Canada. But highly likely you will be able to buy a microswitch (the manufacturers part number is on the RS website too, I was just too lazy to look it up) that fits the bill somewhere in the US or Canada.
If not exactly the same there are lots of similar micro switches that will work. I just went for above as it has high IP rating and hopefully this means it will last till the car goes to car heaven.
