Just had my Quattro 2.0 diesel 177bhp a4 in for 2year service. The car is now just two years old but only has 4500 on the clock
After a long life service the new inspection interval was 730 days or 19,000 miles
But the oil change stated 365 days or 9500 miles.
Before leaving I questioned this and the technician then reset the computer so the oil change now reads 730 days but still only 9500 miles. Again I questioned this and was told this particular model can only go 9500miles between oil changes and the computer cannot be reset to say otherwise.
I have pointed out that when the car was new, both oil and service intervals were two years and approx 19,000 miles so what I am being told must be wrong.
Truth is, this main dealer does not know how to reset my long life oil to two years and an INITIAL oil life of 19,000
I know this mileage will change depending on driving styles/conditions etc but an initial 9500 seems low for long life oil
i have asked this to be taken up with Audi uk
Anyone else had similar problems?

The car is trying to tell you something !
LongLife service intervals are fiction , terrible , terrible idea .
It's pure marketing only to make the servicing costs look attractive .
LongLife oil and change 10k / 1 year max , is champion of the world .

If youve only done 4500 miles in 2 years, i wouldnt worry that the display is showing next service in 9500 miles / 750 days. Your going to have it serviced near enough when it next reminds you if you leave your servicing for that long.

I understand this but it really does not help. I am concerned that there is a problem with the computer re resetting and I would rather it is rectified whilst still under warranty. Hence my question has anyone else experienced this.
The fact that no one else is saying they have seems to strengthen my belief that something is not right

Keep it on the yearly service, I mean why wouldn't you? Long life servicing is totally not recommended.

Darn computers , make sure we make a will when the car drives US to a destination one day .
There is something wrong and have heard of Audi Approved Used selling cars with their first sevice being several thousand or more over due so 27k and 29k
When a warranty claim is raised it is voided !
Beware , check and double check , never assume .

Here's my hunch.... Based on similar **** up with vw dealer. When they've set the oil change interval to annual/10k the oil quality setting automatically sets to 'normal' or 'low' from 'LLife' or 'high'. With the oil quality set to low it may be that it will only accept a 9500mile/15000km oil service interval setting. If the oil quality was set to high perhaps then it would accept the miles for extended oil change interval.

Hi,
I am not sure if it the similar issue, but I faced with the following problem when at dealer center they were unable to reset my service interval. They reset my oil interval (days and miles both), reset service interval, but only days. I left with around 730days and less than 1000miles to the next service. They just suggested me to come and reset it after I will hit 0 on miles. Useless suggestion basically.
I went thought another method. Using VAGCOM there are two ways to reset service and oil intervals. First way by knowing adaptation channel you can reset interval (reset reminder flag), but not change the value of this interval. Other way is to go to manual Service Reminders Reset menu and select manualy the right interval.
So none of audi garage specialists knew second method, so I borrowed VAGCOM from one of my friends and reset myself. It possibly you have got similar problem.
Ross-Tech: VAG-COM: Audi Service Interval Reminders

p.s. Last time I went for a full service they overfilled oil and told me that the sensor faulty and showing wrong oil level. After some debates they took my car for a free check and found that oil were overfilled and nothing wrong with sensor. Taking in account that overfilling can cause a serious damage I decided to avoid dealers and doing oil and filter change myself.

Great response thanks for your help
The main dealer is saying this type of car cannot be reset to 19,000 miles which I guessed was complete rubbish but need experiences from guys like you to back this up. I can now go armed on Monday with this info. Frightening isn't it that main dealers can be so useless re simple issues.
One other small point. I contacted Audi uk for resolution. They just put me back in contact with same dealer! Bit like appealing a guilty verdict and being heard by the same judge

Good luck! The last Master tech to touch my old A6 didnt change the brake fluid. He picked the wrong car to do that to, caught red handed.
