Had new discs and pads fitted about 4 weeks ago, and straight away had issues with rear drivers side burning and over heating.
This was then rectified by replacing caliper and motor on that side under parts warranty (fitted only 18 months previously)
This seemed to sort the problem until today.
The same rear drivers side wheel is over heating, and burning smell.:zx11:
No warning lights on dash, and parts now all new. disc, pads, caliper and motor.

Anyone any idea what else this could be.

Has been suggested a fault in anti lock braking.

The problem will be the caliper piston is stuck against the disc causing friction and heat constantly, heat will travel to the wheel and tyre with a burning rubber smell.

Regarding abs, do a dtc scan

Have just left car up with my mechanic this morning. I believe he is going to try the parking brake control unit next, as everything is brand new on the wheel the fault is occuring.
Has anyone an idea of cost for control unit plus labour.

Plonking around changing this that or the other in the hopes something might fix is not the way to go.

You must either get a VCDS Autoscan to tell you what's going on. Or get a VAS scan at a VW dealer to tell.
Braking system on the B6 is electronically controlled, so the electronics has to be interrogated first before anything else.
And if Basic Settings (a procedure that sets up correctly the brake electronics' control circuitry) has not been performed then that should be done.

A VCDS Autoscan can be found by someone who'll come out for beer tokens.

VW dealer may want an hour's money at dealer rates -- £130-ish inc. VAT in London/SE for VAS. Although often that's refunded if you have the work done there
OTOH, if you get a VCDS Autoscan (a text file) and post here, there's a chance of getting some pre-spending advice. VCDS comes close to the interrogative skills that VAS has -- giving an output that's more concise

Good luck!
