Retrofit MIB 2 to enable CARPLAY / ANDROID AUTO

A guy on another forum has retrofitted MIB 2 to his VW GOLF 2013 ( Link below )- interesting to know if it can be done on the A6.

thats a totally different system to the audi mmi and he seems to be using parts only for the mqb platform

The A6 facelift already has MIB2, which is why the car is now available with Apple CarPlay / Android Auto (as of this summer).

Perhaps just for info, coincidentally, I asked the Audi service manager I have entrusted my cars to over the last 7+ years for servicing etc. about this - about whether A6 FLs with MIB2 were likely to get a software upgrade enabling Carplay/Android Auto.

As I suspect many of you here will have guessed, he strongly doubts it, at least not for a while. I guess it is currently a marketing pull for new customers exploring a new purchase. Of course, it is isn't impossible Audi produce a software upgrade but my conversation with the service manager suggests that we will all be looking for our next car before a software upgrade happens! Here's to hoping I'm wrong. (That said, I'm perfectly content with my MMI (I have the technology advanced, with Google maps etc.) and that works perfectly well. Music streams over Bluetooth. Calls get answered etc too. Happy days.)

I've just deferred my order to ensure that my car comes with the updates. Apparently the FL FL models will be available for sale from May, I was due to take delivery in July but now moved to September.


The clunky iPhone integration was one of the things on my cons list when considering the A6, hopefully the updates will rectify this.

My 65 plate has perfect integration with my iphone 6. Press and hold the voice command button and you get full Siri functionality, which is really all you need. He will even tell you if he can't do things because you are driving.
