Has anyone noticed that the quality is lacking a bit for a premium car?
just got my summer wheels back on and noticed the inside of the wheels are a bit pitted. These wheels have only been on the road for like 1500 miles. My wife's car is similar age with similar mileage and the inside looks 100 times better. Also noticed that the paint on the wheels are bubbling up on 2 of the wheels and there's no noticeable damage that could cause this.
Stone chips is quite apparent on mine and the seat bolster is creased(that could be my fat *** though)
chrome on the front grill is discolouring/corroding.
Just read in another post here someone with corroded calipers and mine starting to show some corrosion as well and I don't live by the sea or near any salt type source.
My back bumper has been painted under warranty as paint was peeling off
this is on a 6 month old car with about 7k on the clock.

No profit in building granite Audi 80's , built to last just out of warranty .

or near any salt type source.

Don't they grit the roads up there?

i was talking to a local body shop i use about paint thickness. he says he applies 3 coats of paint as a rule, then 3 of laqcuer. most body shops do 2 coats of each, years ago cars had 3, these days its one coat, and thats why you get stonechips so easily. everything is down to cost. but then cars cost the same as in the days of the audi 80, yet have all this technology. my 80 has abs, thats all, other than electric windows and central locking. yet cars today have all this wonderful technology , all these gizmos, etc etc, where do you think the cost comes from, yes, from the quality of the car. landrover started it with the discovery in 1989. its a rangerover underneath, same engine , same gearbox, axles, brakes, chassis, just a different skin on the body, yet cost 15 grand less in 1989. they are really good mechanically but rust like you have never seen rust before. thats where the 15k came from.

Water based paints is probably another reason.

I totally understand where cost cutting can have impact on some of the quality but when compared to my wife's merc it's a little behind.
Just as much tech, if anything she has more on hers than mine.
Dont get me wrong I love these audis, wouldn't have bought 3 in 3 years even after a catastrophic failure on my last one.
The interior and design I feel is much better but there are some areas where it's not as good as its competitors and things like paint and wheel finishes is basic things that can be easily improved.
