Well everyone just new on this whole thing but think it's probably the right place to hopefully get an answer to my problem lol

So I've got a 2011 a4 tdi se 136 and I got it at the end of Jan and a Short time after I got it I noticed a judder when taking off in 1st gear but it was happening so randomly( there is no real pattern as to when it happens ie weather temperature etc) I've been reading on here a lot about dual mass flywheels and so on but the car has a full Audi service history with the clutch and flywheel being replaced at 61000 and there's 83000 on it now! Surely it should last longer than that! The dealer says he won't stand over the clutch but he will stand over the pressure plate and flywheel ! I'm leaving it in to him this Wednesday and hopefully I'll have an answer but it's so annoying as its a fantastic car otherwise! I've read so many things it could be such as egr valve etc ... Can anyone shed anymore light as it would be greatly appreciated! Sorry about the long post people lol

I've had this for the last 3 years. For me it is not too bad and something I get used to, so I've left it as it is. From what I understand from reading on this forum, if it only happens while the car is cold / warming up it can be due to condensation on the clutch plate, but this soon goes if you ride the clutch for a bit. If it is happening at other temperatures then I imagine it could be something else - DMF, contamination of clutch with grease from bearing, etc, etc. Those with more knowledge on this forum will be able to give a better answer.

Well hey thanks for the reply !

Yeh I see people have mentioned condensation on the flywheel but I've not heard about grease contaminating the clutch plate-- another avenue to think about I suppose! Just wondering tho I've seen so many people on here saying that when they've brought it to garage it hasn't done it for the mechanic therefore the problem cannot be diagnosed lol and I can't see my dealer just replacing the dmf for me-- if he did tho I would pay for the clutch plate to be fitted also! Did you ever leave yours in to get looked at ?

On mine it's not so bad and only happens at this time of year. I've just had to adapt my style of driving so got used to it. I never got round to having it properly diagnosed or sorted - I was just waiting for it to get so bad that I would have the clutch and DMF replaced at the same time, but as I said I just got used to it and it hasn't really got any worse.

Yeh I no what you mean but I wish I could be that relaxed about it lol but it's bugging me because I only have it and as I got a 6 month warranty with it surely there is a chance of it being resolved or should I say paid for by someone other than me lol. As far as adapting or changing my driving style I have tried diff techniques but nothing seems to make any difference to it so I can't just let it be lol

But once again the fact that is such a random occurrence is a bit of a struggle when it is brought to the garage ! Thanks again for your replies!

I know what you mean. I was in the same situation 3 years ago when I had an extended warranty. I wanted it sorted but knew the garage would struggle to sort it out as it was so random, and guaranteed I wouldn't be able to reproduce it on demand.

I agree - don't let it go and see what the garage say. From what i've read replacing the clutch and DMF should fix it, but for how long it is difficult to say. I also appreciate this was only done 22k miles ago on yours, so strange it should fail again so soon. If it is something else then a full scan with VCDS or whatever diagnostic tool the garage use should pick it up.

Yeh you could be right that a diagnostics may pick something up but I would be very surprised to say the least! This is the thing if it comes down to it that it actually does need a new clutch and flywheel I am slightly sceptical as to wether the dealer will actually replace them as handy as he said lol! What kind of a4 have you got yourself?

Got the same problem on my car. It's been like it for the last year, and when it first started happening I dropped it off at the dealers overnight so they could check it from warm and cold. They found nothing wrong so I've not bothered to pursue it any further. It's annoying, but I can live it with. I've dealt with intermittent faults and dealers in the past and I can't be bothered to go through that hassle again!

Well ahy my last a4 had it for quite a while to be honest but the clutch had never been changed in the time that I had it or any time to my knowledge sold it with 149k on it -- but the clutch was in bad shape so it's confusing me even more as well as really bugging me getting a new car with a similar problem! Did they give you any indication as to what it could have been ! Thanks for your message
