Guys,

Apologies in advance, I'm sure this has been covered before but I'm getting numerous varied results from any searches I do and having trouble finding the answer I need.

I have a B8 A4, early 2009 model. The driver's door won't unlock when pressing the button on the keyfob.

It unlocks fine from the outside with the key, and the handle works normally when opening it.
It opens fine from the inside.
It locks fine.

Just won't unlock with the fob. I've read various other reports of similar issues but many of these people complained the external handle didn't work either, which isn't the issue here. There seems to be a mixture of responses saying it's an ECU/control module, or the system needs reset, or it's an actuator, or a fob issue.

I've got the door stripped and tried a few solid shuts, along with copious amounts of WD40, but no change. Has anyone else experienced the exact same symptoms and did you find a resolution in the end? I don't want to throw money at different results without trying the most likely fixes first.

Thanks in advance.

I had this problem with my 2009 a4 sline diesel when you unlock with the fob all doors open ? but not the drivers door . all doors open from inside . once I open the drivers it opens most time if I don't unlock it . this gets worse some times I pulled handle and there was no resistance and door did not open ??try open and shut the passanger door and see if there is a difference in the feel when pulling handle ???I fixed mine by replacing door mechanism in side door and small cable it cost a bout £100.00 incl vat there is a video on how to on utube just search audi a4 door lock .it was easy to fit the video on utube shows you how to remove door panel etc be carefull with door clips they break easy . or just get some when you get door lock . I spoke to a audi tech and hes says this is a common problem

hope this helps any problems give me a shout

Same problem here - it's the door actuator. If you're lucky it's a build up of dirt - take it apart and give it a good clean.
Otherwise a new one is required - about £100 from Audi.
Or £30-40 second hand.

Thanks guys. Is this an Audi only item new or do you know of any other firms who would stock it, like Eurocarparts?
