Hi all my partner drove home last night as she got to a hill it lost power, I drove it few hours later, I noticed nothing until the engine temp was up the. Same thing lack of power(no turbo) car smells of diesel but thought that could of been the recent service 200miles ago, car has done 160k currently sat on my drive don't want the expense of a garage ripping me off any advise would be great

And why have I offended you? Main dealer quote 3k for new turbo, local garage, £1000 tell me garages don't rip you off

why is that ripping you off. one trader quoted a much higher price than the other. one has a much higher hourly rate and a higher mark up on prices. its down to you to shop around. in fact you could say that 1k is being ripped off if you shopped about more and found a garage that could do the same job with the same parts for 800 quid. what you initially implied was that all garages would rip you off on a forum where a lot of the regulars who would be offering advice own or run or work in garages. i am not saying that everyone is perfect, far from it , but you might want to choose your words a little more carefully so as not to upset everyone.
