Hi, I have a AUDI A4 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/-/dp/B001PQSEOC) B6 2.5tdi AKE engine,

The problem that I have is that the bracket that holds the aux belt tensioner onto the engine keeps snapping at pivot point? can anyone tell me why? 2nd time this has happened in 1 year?

This time I am going to replace tensioner pulley, bolt, bracket pivot piston/sleeve and bushes {that are fixed into the housing of the bracket as they seemed worn and causing slight play in the assembly}

Can anyone shed some light as to what actually goes on in order for this bolt to give? Its a small bolt, torx bolt, that holds the 'spring' assembly onto the engine.

Thanks in advance, if I've explained this badly please say and il try to be more clear :D

Thanks guys!!
Carl

Is your alternator pulley one way clutch assy working ok or has it seized up. Does the tensioner jump around a lot when the engine is ticking over, if yes, your alternator pulley needs replacing.

Hi, thanks for your suggestion! I didn't think the 2.5 AKE V6 engine had clutched alternator pulleys? Or do they? 53 plate?

The alternator pulley seems good, free moving and no strange noises? it did 15k from the first time the bolt had sheared until this time, so im assuming if the alternator had failed somewhat, the alternator wouldn't last another 15k before the problem occurring again?

Thanks for your reply!
