Hi Folks,
I know this must have been answered a thousand times but I simply can not find the answer.
I'm hoping to buy a second hand Audi A4 2.0 TDI 170 S Line 4dr (2011) Diesel but can not find details anywhere about cam belt mileage change intervals :( I have google lots and lots but can find nothing on this model specifically.
Thanks for your help!!
Chris.
Welcome to VWAF :)
Audi recommend 75k or 5 years.

Hi Sam, thanks for your reply!
I phoned the garage and asked them, the second hand car salesman told me he was reading from the manual and it said 135,000 miles, would they really sink this low just to make a sale?
I have a lot more faith in you than him!
Thanks again!
Chris.

Sam's right - this link is also a handy reference - http://www.mytimingbelt.com/Results.aspx?ModelId=71
I'm not convinced the manual would state 135k miles without quoting a timescale - it's usually X number of years or Y number of Miles, whichever is reached first.
It's a 5 year old car, if the salesman has quoted a (potentially out of date) manual at you to wriggle out of completing a job that would secure a sale, walk away.
There's plenty out there that will ensure jobs like that are done.

Hi Chris, do you know the engine code? mine is CAGA, checked with Halfords Auto Care who told that it's due to change at 120K miles or 5 years.

Brilliant advice thank you.
And second hand car salesmen wonder why they get such a hard time!!!
Thanks for clearing this up and keep up the good work!
All the best, Chris.

I changed mine timing belt set few days ago (whole kit with water pump and coolant fluid) on 180 000km and that is stated in service plan no time restricted just kilometers. My car is 2.0TDI 105kW 2008. Newer cars from 2011 > has service interval on 210000km and also no time frame. My car has service history in Audi from the beginning serviced with long life services every 30 000km in Germany and here in Croatia Audi demands oil change on 15000km or 1 year. Also we have special discount for all vehicles which are 4 years old and more so I payed 670€ for timing belt whole kit service, alternator belt, all of the filters (oil, fuel, air and Polen) and oil itself Castrol Edge Longlife 3.

As above, my wife's 2013 model was 210000 km interval for belt in the service schedule.

My manual does not give a time limit just a mileage interval, but Audi UK dealers strongly recommend changing every 5 years even if the recommended mileage hasn't been reached.
I know it's not cheap but for piece of mind I would always recommend a time limit as well (5 years), given that it is made of rubber it can degrade over time.

I changed it after 8 years and it wasn't bad at all. It has kevlar in it so it's durable long enough.
