Hi Guys.
I'm looking to buy an A4 S Line 2012 - CAT D
If the following airbags are required, do I need to replace the ECU? I have VCDS to hand.
Passenger Airbag (have dash kit to fit)
Steering Wheel
Drivers side curtain side airbag

The car has sustained light front end damage - (not damaged the wings) only bumper / Grille and bonnet

Shame the airbag kit has gone off..

Anyway...
Do I need a new airbag ECU, or can I re-programme the AECU to see the new bags.....
or... even worse... would the bags go off if powered up on the existing ecu?

Anyway... It's an aitbag ecu "unsure" question.....

Cheers.
W.

normally if the bags have deployed then yes, you will need a new ecu. it won't set new bags off and you will find a code bascically saying its deployed the bags and this code won't clear. however, bba reman say they can reset it, so worth giving them a ring. google ' bba reman''. for more info..

@zollaf - Hi pal... not messaged or swapped technical queries for a while..... how are you doing?

Thanks for the advice..
the kit of airbags comes with the ECU... I just wondered if I actually needed to fit it.
It IS from a breakers yard, so I'm guessing it will need coding with the VIN etc.

Cheers Again - hope all is well!

doing well thanks. yourself.
yes, you will need the ecu if yours has deployed, not sure about the coding but i would imagine it would need it.
