Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere.

I've just purchased my 5th Audi, a 2013 A6 S-Line Black Edition which I love !

I've noticed, when the car is cold, a clicking sound coming from the driver side door or possibly near the headlight switch. It sounds like a relay switch and tends to last for a couple of minutes before it disappears.

Any ideas ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Jeff

A4 does it aswell, probably something to do with the cold start procedure.

Many thanks for the prompt response Chris, greatly appreciated.

Suspected it might just be a series of tests, was starting to freak me out though !!

Cheers

Jeff

My allroad does it too but only in cold weather. Wondering if there is a relay for auxiliary heater or something back there.

The clicking of relays is much more noticeable in my FL Ultra than it was in my previous car

I have a 2012 A6 and I thought it was passenger side mirror, any ideas how to get rid of it?

I saw on another forum that someone had switched off the auxiliary heating to stop the clicking.

I notice an occasional relay click, but only in cold weather and always assumed it was the aux heater relay.

Clicking noise from behind dash is from the heater relays ( he took it apart to check and it is them) this is normal and not a defect.

Definitely the auxiliary (supplementary?) heater relay. If you set DIS to efficiency monitoring (or whatever it's called) you see the bar move when you hear the click.
