So I am picking up the new A6 on Tues from Coventry Audi and want some cool sounds for the ride back to Scotland. At home, my entire music collection sits on a server in the form of FLAC files that I use for a Sonos system.. My plan is to copy these files on to a few 32G SD cards that I will keep in the car. My question are :-
1. Are these files compatible with the car stereo?
2. Will it support full album graphics?
3. I am not familiar with using SD cards - is there any specific type i should look for.
thanks

I have a 2015 FL A6 with the technology pack and this:
1: Supports FLAC files just fine
2: Supports Album graphics although as others mention elsewhere a little messing around is required between different devices including an A6
3: Others have mentioned that 128GB SD cards are supported, I have two 64GB cards and there is no issue with these

Thanks for the info. I pick the car up Tues so have transferred some files to a 32Gb card to get started. I will probably try a 128GB later, though I noticed that you can even get 256GB cards now - it would be interesting to see if that would work as my entire collection at home is about 180GB.
If it did not work, it would be an expensive failure as they cost around £100 on amazon!

The C7 infotainment system is pretty good, but navigating music is a real weak point, there are a number of shortcomings in the system that make it hard to quickly traverse your music collection. I recommend that you don't put all 180GB in the car (who goes on a long enough journey to listen to that much music?!) but that, if you do, you split it over two SD Cards with some sort of natural split between them. This will halve the amount of faffing you do to get to a chosen track or album. i have a single 64GB card in mine that contains almost everything I own, but I recently bought a second card to split the collection in two (all the good music will be on one card and all the wife's music will be on the other).
