Does anyone know who is the supplier for brakes to vw for the b6 Passat? I've heard Pagid and TRW does anyone know for sure? Need full set. Thanks in advance

Love the feel of the genuine pad as I'm not a spirited driver in general

Red is std feel from cold , with extremely low brake dust .
Yes better performance once hot , but think of it as the difference between hitting someone up the rear and not !
I've got them front and rear on two cars and wouldn't use anything else for the road .

I know what you mean, how do they last and how hard are they on discs. Most performance pads are harder on discs

Put it this way the two cars still have their original Redstuff and discs .
Once you have them you won't change .

If I went performance pads I'd use brembo discs and pads, even for motorbike racing or rallying. We have been offered other makes as sponsorship for the bikes and we turned them down and buy brembo. I've never seen anything like them but again it's only my opinion

I rate Brembo discs but not pads .

Again it depends what pads, the pads for the front of our bike are £120, so not saying the road ones would be any better than any other out there

You don't really need redstuffs on a road car.
I'm talking from experience having used green, red, yellows and blues! Mintex 1155s are a superior pad if you need the extra heat range.

Pagid I think and good enough .
If you require better braking when hot and might save you one day and like your wheels cleaner for longer, Redstuff.

There is no such thing as "genuine" brake discs or pads, this includes various filters etc too.
It's whoever can supply the part cheapest at the time and manufacturer of certain parts can change year to year even month to month.

As Chris has said whoever gives the best price in the tender process. Take a 2007 tdi 170 like mine...what brake parts did it have from new? The caliper carriers on the front are stamped ATE suggesting that all the braking parts may have been ATE when the car was assembled. The caliper guide pins are also ATE (and £20 each!!) however the rear calipers and motors are TRW (rumour has it that the rear discs were also TRW and the pads Textar and not ATE so there is not one supplier that was used to make the car but a combination of many! The VW genuine disc supplier has changed several times over the years with several taking first place in the manufacture of the "genuine" parts. So you see there is no "genuine" part per se but a number of component manufacturers that make parts to a certain specification for a certain amount of time.

Just as long as not made/manufactured in PRC29845
