Hi everyone. I'm new here, but not new to VW ownership as my own car is a MK4 Golf V6 4Mo which I adore, and plan to keep on the roads as long as I can :-)
Anyhow the Mrs needs a larger family motor and the Touran seems to fit the bill. Now I want to get one with the 2.0 PD engine before they went common rail, but I am desperate to avoid getting one with a DPF because she does many short journeys less than 15 mins long as well as our occasional long journeys of 220 miles plus visiting family.
It's hard to make out on the internet which Touran's if any had the DPF fitted. I see various engine codes for the 2.0PD before the DPFs came along, so if I'm looking to go view a VW Touran, how can I know if it's going to have a DPF fitted. For example is there a switch over point? I'm looking to get the youngest diesel Touran I can which doesn't have a DPF fitted to it.
Aside from that is there anything to watch out for on the PDs? They have a strong reputation in the Golf circles and I appreciate the slightly older engineering as I'm a DIYer and do my own servicing etc.
Basically all information helpful so I don't go out and buy a total sh*ter :)
Cheers
Chris
