Hi
I have a 1999 Alhambra, which I can not stop the Alarm from going off. The car was fine until Friday. I went out pressed the key fob, open the door and the alarm went off. I pressed the key fob again and noticed that the lights on the car didn't flash, so I assumed the battery in the fob needed changed. Changed the batteries and this made no difference. I then tried to lock the car manually and then open it again, and noticed the central locking wasn't working, and again the alarm went off. I can lock the drivers door manually, and have to lock the other doors from the inside, but every time I open a door, or switch on the ignition the alarm goes off. I can start the car and it runs, but the alarm is active, honking and flashing ???.
I pulled the fuse so the alarm Klaxon was silent while I tried to figure out what was going on.
I have checked the wiring harness in the drivers door, and also changed the drivers door lock and harness (just incase), but this hasn't made any difference. I checked for power to the door lock through the harness, and also checked when the switches in the lock are activated and the power does go up and down in accordance.
The car will start and run and drive, but with the alarm going off. I have tried recoding the spare key but nothing seems to happen, I tried with the fuse pulled and also with it in, honk, honk, honk !!!!!
The red LED in the drivers door no longer lights, but there is power when I check with my tester. I havn't had any codes read with vagcom, but will have in the next couple of days, assuming I can with the alarm being active.
So to sum it up:
Can't stop the alarm
Key fob doesn't seem to work
Central locking not working
Red LED light in drivers door not lighting.
Car starts and runs, so immobiliser not active ?
I don't really know where to look next, and if anyone would have any ideas where to look I would appreciate all advice given.
Many thanks
Chips.
