View Full Version : Suggestions for rear entertainment

My previous car was a 58 plate Disco 3 with factory fitted rear entertainment built directly into the front head rests with a 6 disc auto changer and tv.

As I bought my A6 S Line 2nd hand I didn't have the chance for options such as that.

With two small boys who bore very quickly and now tend to argue over sharing an iPad mini and Netflix via my data sim in the dash, the question has now come back to be answered about putting something a bit more permanent in the back to keep them occupied on long journeys.

I've been down the line of portable DVDs strapped to the headrests which are ok but have their own inherent issues, so I was curious if there were any other suggestions for something that looked professional and ticks all the boxes of keeping two rowdy boys entertained in the back so I don't have to keep raising my voice.

My car comes with the tech pack, but I'm not necessarily concerned about connecting any solutions to the sd card readers in the dash, so they can operate independently.

So anything sd card and/or dvd based which can be run in parallel or independently would be fine.

Cost wise I'm happy to spend a few hundred quid if necessary but retro fitting Audi's own system will probably go beyond that.

Also I'd like them to be easily concealed when parked up as I haven't got privacy glass in the back, unless I get the rear windows tinted which I had been thinking about anyway.

Thanks

Buy two 2nd hand 64 GB iPads from gumtree. Job done and is perfect remedy for easily bored small people. Its what i did. ;) Plus they can draw on them and play games for free. Its all good

Mind and put them in these cases though Griffin Survivor Apple iPad Air 2 Protective Case Black by Viking (http://www.viking-direct.co.uk/catalog/catalogSku.do?id=7172064&cm_mmc=Google-_-PLA_GEN_GOOGLE-SHOPPING_computing-and-communicating-_-iPad-Accessories-_-7172064&s2m_channel=544&_%24ja=cgid:16600010417%7Ctsid:34770%7Ccid:2428309 37%7Clid:114207108257%7Cnw:g%7Ccrid:55356657977%7C rnd:285711915697541233%7Cdvc:c%7Cadp:1o2%7Cbku:1&gclid=CM3kgrWc1coCFcluGwoddZ4Mjg) as small people tend to have a lack of appreciation for breakable glass.

Total cost approx £330
2 x iPads 2nd 64GB = £130 each
cases = £35

I can see your points, but not sure if I'd want to go down the iPad route.

They'd need to be fixed to the back of the seats and would be an easy target for thieves.

Plenty of solutions like this around. Easily removable. iPad Car Mount from inCarBite mounted on Audi A8 - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmFQ_tmAidM)
