Hi all, what does anyone think of the single mass flywheel conversion? For a 1.9 tdi.

A dmf is designed to reduce shock vibrations to the transmission so me personally I wouldn't risk it but I have heard lots have but I don't know their future outcome.

Ive heard that, but thats what clutch springs are for.
I only ask cos DMF's are very unreliable and expensive also no or not many engines from the past had flywheel problems.

Yeah the clutch damper springs are but a dmf is easier on a cars transmission with a turbo.
A sdi is the non turbo version of a tdi and that has a smf rather than dmf, tdi will produce more torque than a sdi so more vibration shocks will be felt with just a smf conversion.
If the car ain't worth alot then perhaps you can justify an experiment but if it's worth a bit I would stick to ome parts.
Perhaps some of the other members can comment further on this?

Dmf's are costly and @ 60k manufacturers recommend a replacement so no wonder ppl do try to shy away from them,
Most older diesels etc was non turbo but now days with manufacturers meeting the low emissions they plonk them on just about any engine now, one because they produce more bhp on small engines and two because they help reduce the emissions.
So unfortunately alot of cars now a days do have a dmf just to reduce the extra torque vibrations in the gearbox and for the engine vibrations to give a more cosy ride lol.
