This website :)

I've edited your thread title to make it more relevant to what you're actually asking.

It is sometimes easier to just have your old one rebuilt at least you get warranty, but buying a second hand car is a good idea

Rebuilding this multitronic cost around 2000€ and I've read that the problem may come back after 20000km.. and thanks sam

Maybe it is worth getting a donor car a then to switch the box over, at least you can make money back selling the rest for parts.

As for the engine/gearbox switch over I'm not sure it will be easier as euc etc will be different.

Yeah I planned to swap engine and gearbox both because swapping only gearbox would need so much modifications.

Are there no write offs the same as your model for a straight switch, as your friends car will have different euc etc

Sorry I didn't understand..
what is euc?
Write offs? If you mean wrecked car with same engine and gearbox then no..
Almost all the 3.0 Audis what are sold here in North(Finland, Sweden etc.) are quattros or diesels..

Sorry I meant engine control unit (ecu) and yes I did mean wreck.

If you do swap the engine/gearbox with ur friends car dont expect it to be a straight swap that's all I'm kinda thinking.
His ecu and control modules will be different so take that into account.
