They're factory weights, every new Audi will have them until a tyre is replaced.

Looks like the adhesive will be pretty poor then - They will probably fall off this weekend and need replacing.

Also looks like the original paint has been worn off no doubt by the chemicals used when the wheels have been washed.

Wheels are fine - it was delivered on the back of a lorry and had 120 miles of road road filth all over it.

Didn't you see the "individual" options where you can choose balancing weights of an appropriate colour from quattro GmBH? Those contrasting ones are the default no-cost option. My advice would be to select "Optik - schwarz, komplett" rather than the "Optik - schwarz, teilweise" option unless you want to get handy with a black marker pen.

Yeah that's normal. If they are really that annoying, get some paint and an artists brush and paint them?

No its not normal. My last C7 Black Edition, a 2015 facelift which was unfortunately written off, had dark grey balance weights on it.

Not being funny but this is a brand new car. I am not about to start painting them. The dealer will have to sort it out.

It's whatever they use in the factory at the time of production, if it bothers you that much go get the wheels rebalanced.

There's no such thing as "black edition" wheel weights.

I understand there is no such thing as black edition wheel weights. Its just a shame that so much time and money is pumped in to design and styling then they go an do something bloody stupid like this. And yes it does bother me, I've spent a lot of money and want the car to look tip top. From what you say apparently there may be some people on the forum that may not be bothered about what there car looks like - each to their own i suppose.

Getting them rebalanced is just what the dealer will be doing.

Those are exactly the same colour weights as were applied to my black-painted wheels. It irked me when I saw them but they are there for a purpose and I never conceived that wheel weights might be available in multiple colours. It's just a more functional part of the car.

Do you think the dealer will find a wheel balancing service that stocks colour-coordinated weights? I am not sanguine.

you can get pretty well any colour you want. most garages will just stock plain ones though.. you could ask them to order some in, or even just get your own and swop them over.

Which just proves how wrong one can be. I am going to order some black ones!

Andy, whilst my previous post was entirely tongue-in-cheek, I can't help but think you've either got an "eagle eye" for detail and made it a specific term of your deal, or you have an extremely understanding dealer who recognises the potential of your continuing relationship.

There are aspects of my own car which aren't exactly as I would have liked, but which I accept as being typical of similar cars (A6 C7) but which are inferior to my previous experience of new Audis. I shalln't for example be asking my dealer to ensure the 12V accessory power remains on permanently as in my test drive I didn't realise it turns off automatically. Complementary/sympathetic balance weights, preferably hidden, are nice to have but not on my "deal breaker" list like perforated leather seats or piping would be.

Whilst you undoubtedly have expectations, as is everyones' entitlement, and I wish you well in reaching a satisfactory conclusion; I think you'll get the same response (under the dealer's breath) as if I were to ask George Osborne to help me with my Tax Return. I haven't asked him yet, so I can't be sure...;)

Please take my previous response with a humorous pinch of salt, but I'm unable to offer anything more constructive than a genuine "Good Luck". They will get camouflaged by road film in time.

I have used gloss black on my powdercoated wheels for the last 3.5yrs.

Annoyingly when a place is balancing them they don't give me a discount for supplying my own :(

If you find a good wheel specialist, they can balance them so they are hidden by the spokes. The machine can alter the weights required so the ones nearest the outside edge are hidden.

I have been using the same dealer for 20 years - would not hesitate to recommend them.

Between you and me I wouldn't trust George Osbourne to run a bath let alone my numbers....

Not too sound harsh but my advice would be get out more often - really losing sleep over wheel weights is a new one to me. After a few hundred miles the wheels get dirty and you can't see them until you clean the wheels again

Await the first time you kerb the things

That'll teach me to pussyfoot around in an air or tact and diplomacy. I didn't think to condense my message using "Google translate to Yorkshire". ;)

Hypocritical moi? I've recently used some "Titan" valve caps from my old RS6plus to better suit my anthracite wheels. :Blush2:

Did you REALLY have to post that? I will now need to explore my valve caps with a torch this evening, examine my wheel weights with a Dulux colour chart and ensure that the colour of the soot on my exhaust tips matches the brake dust on my alloys. And then have a word with my dealer about their laissez-faire approach to design. :D

Chacun a son gout! :D

I never wash my exhaust tips in the hope that the soot will slowly extend to cover all the chrome on the car. Pas de chance. :(

Cars are not ornaments, go out and drive the damn thing and enjoy, why obsess over a flimsy bit of metal that's stuck to your wheels that no one notices

Wheel weights are my bug bear. The ribbons the tyre places use are dreadful, made up of alternating 5g and 10g weights, so if you need 60g you get quite a long string. The audi ones are individual for each weight, but you would need to buy loads so that you have a selection available when you get tyres fitted, which would be very costly. I asked my dealer if when they fitted tyres they used oe weights, but they didn't. In the end I found a company that makes the weights and bought a selection box which has individual weights from 5g upto 30g, and look very neat on my refurbed 20" A6 Avant wheels. Not quite the same chamfered profile as the OE but far superior than standard weights.
