Hi all
Ok I have a 2.4 Saloon 2004.......
When I turn on my ignition, the boot warning light comes on. Then, when I start the car, the little car display goes off and the normal display appears.
Usually if the boot or door is open, the displays stays on until you close the boot or door.
I checked the boot and it is shut. The lock and boot switch and the remote opening are all working fine.
When I turn off the car and lock it, the central locking locks it all, but the lights don't flash and the alarm goes off after a short while.
I'm guessing it thinks the boot is still open.
There is no beeping coming from the boot to say the batteries on their way out.
Has any one had or know about this issue and how did you or how can I sort it.

Cheers guys

I have this problem too.

I have an A4 B6 2.4 Cabriolet from 2002 and my "boot is open" light is on. My car battery was dead flat yesterday too so i think my alarm was going off all night to run the battery down? (my alarm horn doesnt work so i wouldnt have heard it)Does anyone have an idea of what is going on. The boot shuts fine but according to the dash it isnt!?
It wont let me put the roof down either as it thinks my boot is open!

Hi, I have an A4 Avant so unsure if it will be the same for you guys. When this happened to me it was because water was getting onto the locking mechanism where the boot lock is located. The pipe that fed the rear washer had popped off and was soaking the electrics. Stuck it back on and no more alarm or boot warning on the dash. Just make sure you thoroughly dry everything first. Also check where the cables run and pay particular attention to any area that are prone to moving such as where the cabling exits the car and goes into the actual tailgate itself, near the hinges, sometime they get snagged due to the constant open and close which wears them out and they short out that way giving false readings. Maybe do a search on the forum, turns up lots of stuff, fairly common fault, for instance..............

Car thinks boot is open (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php/111009-Car-thinks-boot-is-open?highlight=rear+wiper+leaking+lock)

Hope you sort it out.
