Hi All
I have noticed on this site quite a few threads on this subject, but seems to be no real answers.
I went out to my car this morning and battery flat. When i connected jump leads (before i even put keys in) i noticed the smaller of the 2 fans was on.
jumped the car and off i went. noticed that when i stopped the fan was still running.
Having read the many threads on here i decided to investigate, and took battery out, and found the FCM.
I disconnected all the connections to the FCM and to the fans, gave a them a good spray of WD40.

Reconnected, and still the little fan running.

My questions are. Is the FCM at fault? I have found one and was going to collect tomorrow, or could there be another fault.
The only way i can stop it is to pull fuse on top of battery out.
i have read on here issues with fuse 16????

Any help before i change the FCM would be helpful.

It could be the fan control unit but the fans on the V5 are the same as the V6 and the PD 150 and these are known for problems.

Appreciate your reply, but most of the threads on here relate to the fans either not working or pulsing, mine just wont turn off!!!!!
i believe i can test them by using wire and crossing the terminals and see if they work.

Yes I have had that as well. I can't look at the wiring diagram at the moment as my system is updating. We have an unusual version of your car in today, the Seat Toledo V5.

Just been out and check hosing the wire connecting between the 3 terminals. That didn't help, as as soon as I replace the file on top of battery the fan starts!!
I wonder Crasher, if you could explain the point of the 2 Fans? Do they do independent jobs, or both the same. I only ask as if I leave the fuse in, and disconnect the fan that's constantly on, will the other work if temp goes up?????

Is it a 20V and does it have electronic Climate control? I would imagine it does.

Hi, yes it is the 20v job, and has climate control. Does that make a difference?

Could you not use VCDS to check for faults on HVAC module? I know the electric fan is linked to CC unit on other vag cars???

The fan wiring for Climate control (AKA HVAC for Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning) is different to cars with normal AC so I now need to look at the wiring diagram but my desktop PC has thrown a rod....

Appreciate all your help. I have just fitted a new module, and fingers crossed, touch wood etc it has fixed problem. Now I wait for the next issue to arise.
