on vehicles with deluxe automatic air conditioning (digital display type) when the ignition is turned off you can press the "fan" button and it will run the fan for 30 minutes putting air into the cabin.
On my vehicle , this function is NOT available as I have basic air conditioner (non digital type) , However if you enable the Auxilary heating via VCDS- link below you can enable this function.(yes I know the link is for the A4 - but it still works).

Once the Auxilary heating option has been enabled via VCDS
to get outside air into the cabin.......
1)Turn temprature dial selection to coldest setting
2) select "car" , "systems" , "Auxillary Heating" , "Switch on auxillary heating" , push the rotary push button to select the desired run time.
3) Then the MMI display will say "STATUS ACTIVE X MINUTES" where X= Your desired run time.
4) Turn off the ignition and then press one of the "Air distribution buttons" ie footwell , the fan will now run (u can vary the speed by turning dial) for the time you selected , lock car walk away- the car is now getting outside air into the cabin.-
If you have driven the car for a particular distance and provided you are getting warm air into the cabin , when you park up repeat the above process with the Temprature dial set to a warm setting ...you will be getting warm air into the cabin.
*********PLEASE NOTE **********
If the Aux heating is enabled via VCDS , you cannot select the "Air Flow Intensity" of the Air Conditioning IE you can't select Economy etc in the MMI menu ,( the option is removed from the MMI menu.)..so this now has to been done by manually pressing the AC button , when the blower is running in Air Con mode , just press the AC button so the LED goes out and now the blower is in economy mode.
For me this is no biggie , as I want the functionality of air in the cabin when my vehicle is parked up.
