Hi, I was out at an automotive trade fair last year and saw a new front lower forward control arm tagged up with A6/Allroad on it. Was only priced at £30 old new stock ect.

Now the other day, while doing a drive shaft boot, I noticed play in the front lower forward link ball joint. Well knowing that I had one in stock, I clipped out the old one done the quick compatibility check, for cone width and rough length and banged it on. Last job was to clip on the level sensor arm......... No indentation in the arm to accommodate the clip. Suspicion got the better of me and I googled the Febi part number 11350 and guess what, comes back as Audi Part number 4D0 407 151 and the allroad is audi Part number 4Z7407151C. Both have the correct cone width and I'm struggling to get a technical drawing for both:confused:

In essence my question for cleverer people than myself is- apart from the indentation for the level arm clip,, are they the same?

Thanks
Alan

A few companies do it and the most well known of them are Bendix and TRW, I think TRW is the OE supplier. I can't get a price until Monday but if I remember rightly when we did a pair a few months back they were £125 each compared to £230 from Audi.

Thanks for that Crasher. The arm is identical apart from the indentations for the level sensor clip, I was wondering more if the rest of it was identical, hole distances and total length ect, so if push came to emergency I could actually use it on the vehicle?

They are both 364-mm long and have the same 24.5-mm cone but the 4D weighs 1500g and the 4Z weighs 1800g so I imagine it is a duty rating detail.

Ahh, thanks for that. I am going to get a TRW to put on the car, but will keep the other one on the stores shelf!:biglaugh:

Just a quick one Crasher, TRW are showing two fitments - JTC 1297 and JTC 1041, I think i'm right in thinking I need the former one.
