Anyone encountered this issue?
When I select drive in my 2003 Audi A4 B6 1.8t the rad fan fuse (NO.9 15 amp) housed within the internal fuse box next to steering wheel, pops. Has anyone any idea why this may be happening? Thanks in advance.
If I start the car and leave it to get to temp the fans kick in. They turn freely. Only when I select drive the fuse pops?

I assume this is an 150PS front wheel drive with the Multichronic box? Fuse 9 is the power supply across a relay for the brake servo vacuum booster pump, these are always seizing up and if you disconnect it the fuse should stop blowing proving the pump is at fault. The pumps original part number was 8E0 927 317 B which changed to 8E0 927 317 E, then 8E0 927 317 F and now 8E0 927 317 H and these are £313.39 from Audi, they don't appear to be available aftermarket.

Crasher I'm trying to worlk out how a brake system component would be blowing the coolant aux fan fuse. please excuse my ignorance but is it on the same circuit?
the car is an Audi A4 B6 1.8t auto box 2003. I can message the reg but don't have the documents to check the vehicle specs.

I am assuming my spec of your car is correct, you don't specify. For example the 2L 16v TDI A3 inlet manifold flap fuse is the same one as for the cooling fan circuit.

That is a BFB engine but some of the info on the system I have at home is lacking so I think it may be an import. Assuming the car is front wheel drive and Multichronic (the spec does not say), fuse 9 is still the fuse to the servo vacuum pump but the line that feeds this fuse also goes to the A/C system so disconnect the vacuum pump and see if this stops the fuse blowing.

Crasher, thank you very much.
I did what you said and disconnected the pump. No fuse blowing. Connected the pump and it went straight away.
You have saved me a hell of a lot of time and money. If I could I'd buy you a beer my friend, thank you.
Paul.
